East Haven man convicted of sexual assault and endangerment

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut — An East Haven man was convicted Friday in New Haven Superior Court of two counts of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of endangering a minor, according to a news release from the state Department of Criminal Justice.

Christian Long, 36, was sentenced to 20 years in prison, suspended after 10 years, and given 10 years of sex offender probation. According to prosecutors, the victims and their families were present and spoke at the sentencing.

On April 3, Long pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of endangering a minor, prosecutors said.

“The factual basis of the plea included allegations that Long sexually abused two children under the age of 10 in Branford, East Haven and Ledyard between 2015 and 2019,” the press release said.

District Attorney Dr. John P. Doyle expressed his gratitude in the press release to the East Haven, Branford and Mashantucket police departments for their investigative efforts. He also thanked the Department of Children and Families and the Yale-New Haven Hospital Child Abuse Clinic for their assistance in the case.

“The New Haven District Attorney’s Office is grateful for our office’s partnership with police and child welfare agencies. All are committed to stopping these cruel acts against the most vulnerable and holding perpetrators of our children accountable,” Doyle Jr. said in the press release.
