It will be significantly wetter than Friday, but there will also be a steady breeze, with gusts reaching up to 30 miles per hour at times.

Tonight

CBS New York

Showers and storms will move into the region later in the night. These are expected to be mostly mild, but heavy rain is also possible.

Minimum temperatures will not rise above 21°C in most places and it can be very humid.

Sunday storms

CBS New York

Once this round is over, Sunday morning will be mostly sunny. This will cause temperatures to climb back into the 30s in many areas, and with the high humidity, heat indices will range from 35 to just over 38 degrees, especially in central and southern parts of New Jersey.

With all this heat and humidity, the atmosphere is primed for the development of strong to severe storms during the afternoon and evening hours. These storms can bring damaging winds, hail, torrential rain, and even an isolated tornado.

Because a tropical air mass will be present, the storms can produce large amounts of rain, up to 2 to 3 inches in some areas. This can lead to flash flooding.

In the wake of the storms, the skies will clear and the humidity will decrease on Sunday night.
