(NewsNation) — The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has become the second major U.S. newspaper to call on President Joe Biden to end his re-election campaign.

“The sad truth is that Biden should withdraw from the race, for the sake of the nation he has served so admirably for half a century,” the AJC editorial board said.

The New York Times on Friday called on Biden to leave the race, calling it “the greatest public service Mr. Biden can now perform.”

Biden acknowledged his poor performance during a debate Friday in Raleigh, North Carolina, but also said he would not give up.

“My friends, I no longer walk as easily as I used to. I don’t speak as well as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to. But I know what I know. I know how to tell the truth. I know how to distinguish good from bad. And I know how to do this job. I know how to get things done,” Biden said.

Republicans pounced on Biden’s debate performance. North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis called on the cabinet to invoke the 25thth Amendment and installation of Vice President Kamala Harris as Acting President pursuant to Section Four of the Amendment.
