The rapist, who took advantage of his victim, then abused a young girl

A man who raped a woman and then sexually abused a young girl has been jailed for 12 years and six months. The rape victim said no court verdict could heal the pain she suffered.

In a statement read out to Cardiff Crown Court, the woman raped by 40-year-old Anthony Lewis said he took advantage of her at a vulnerable time in her life and that after what she had been through she was determined to help others to help them “face their situation.” perpetrators and find a voice”.

Lewis, of Rectory Road, Barry, appeared in court on one count of rape of an adult, six counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 – touching the girl’s breasts and genitals – and one count of inciting a child under 13 to commit sexual assault Sex condemned during sexual activities by asking her to touch his penis. He already has a previous conviction for driving.

In a statement read out in court, the rape victim said it was difficult to put into words the harm Lewis caused her. She said the defendant left her afraid to go shopping or even go for a walk. Byron Broadstock, for Lewis, said the defendant had difficulty coming to terms with the jury’s verdicts. Recorder Carl Harrison sentenced Lewis to 12 years and six months in prison. He was also subject to a sexual harassment prevention order and an indefinite restraining order.
