Buffalo Sabers select QMJHL defenseman Simon-Pier Brunet

LAS VEGAS – Sabers development coaches have frequented Vsevelod Komarov’s games with Drummondville this season, as the 2022 draft pick was among the top players in the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League.

Following Komarov’s success, the Sabres introduced the player they selected with their other fourth-round pick, defenseman Simon-Pier Brunet, whom Buffalo selected with the 123rd overall pick in the draft Saturday.

Brunet and Komarov were teammates with Drummondville, which won the QMJHL title to qualify for the Memorial Cup. Brunet is a right-handed defenseman who turns 19 in October and has produced just 14 points in 52 regular season games.
