14-year-old arrested in connection with shooting in Albany

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) — A 14-year-old boy was arrested Friday in connection with the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy, Albany police said. The shooting occurred early Friday morning on Liebel Street.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting around 1:30 a.m. on Liebel Street. They said they found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the leg who was treated at the scene and then taken to Albany Medical Center. Police say he is in stable condition.


The suspect was found at the scene and taken into custody, according to police. Albany police report that a nine-millimeter handgun was found at the scene and that the 14-year-old and the victim knew each other.

The 14-year-old was arraigned in Albany County Family Court before being released to his guardian.
