Arrest after knife attack in city centre

Police in Owen Sound have arrested a suspect after a man was attacked with a knife in the city centre.

Police responded to a 911 call from the 300 block of 8th Street East shortly after 10 p.m. on June 22, about two hours after a man was attacked with a knife.

According to police, the victim suffered numerous cuts and was taken to hospital for treatment, where he was released a short time later.

On Tuesday, police arrested a 36-year-old man from Owen Sound in connection with the attack.

He is accused of grievous bodily harm, assault with a weapon, dangerous possession of a weapon and failure to comply with a probation condition.

Police believe the victim and the suspect knew each other and that the attack was related to a previous argument.

According to police, the accused has been in custody since his arrest.
