5 arrested in Berhampur +2 student gang rape case |

Berhampur: Five persons were arrested by the personnel of Baidanathpur police station in Odisha’s Berhampur area on charges of drugging and raping a girl in classes +2.

Talking to the media, Berhampur Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarthak Sarangi said none of the accused youths were friends of the victim. They are all adults.

According to police investigations, the girl was called to a private mass by the accused while she was standing on the side of the road. There the defendant drugged her and then raped her several times.

The matter came to light when the rape survivor lodged a complaint with the police. Based on their complaint, the police had arrested eight people.
