Boating accident on Lake Wateree is being investigated by SCDNR

RIDGEWAY, SC – State authorities are investigating an overnight boating accident on Lake Wateree that resulted in injuries.

The Kershaw County Fire Department said neighboring Fairfield County firefighters requested their marine units around 2 a.m. to respond to a boating accident at a dock. Authorities said the accident occurred in the 300 block of Bird Island Road.

Kershaw County officials confirmed that Fairfield County was treating those injured in the crash while Kershaw County emergency responders patrolled the area. Details about how the crash occurred or how seriously the occupants were injured were not available at this time.
