Taylor Swift matches one of Whitney Houston’s most impressive feats

Taylor Swift’s new album The Department of Tortured Poets is in charge of the Billboard 200 once again in this context. The title debuted at number one on the ranking of the most consumed feature films in the United States, and has remained there ever since. The pop superstar’s latest has now topped the chart for nine weeks, and in doing so, he’s making history.

According to Billboard, The Department of Tortured Poets is only the sixth album in U.S. history to debut at No. 1 and then spend its first nine weeks at that position. Swift is in truly incredible company with this latest feat, as is to be expected.

The first title to handle this specific broadcast was Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of LifeThe album spent its first 13 weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 in 1976.

Wonder’s feat would not be equaled until 1987. That year, Whitney Houston’s second set, the singles title Whitneyopened at No. 1 and then reigned for his first 11 consecutive frames.

Houston and Wonder remained alone in their club for nearly 30 years. Drake then joined them in 2016, when his blockbuster Views launched at the top of the Billboard 200 and refused to budge for nine weeks.

Only one musician has managed to perform twice in a row, and he’s responsible for the two most recent additions to this group – before Swift, of course. Morgan Wallen Dangerous debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, then reigned for 10 consecutive weeks. He then replicated that success and even improved on it with his follow-up.

Wallen One thing at a time brought the country musician back to the top of the Billboard 200 last year. This title gave him 19 first place finishes, although only the first 12 were consecutive. The superstar’s latest two projects are still near the top of the chart.

In a few days, The Department of Tortured Poets will likely become one of the only tracks to spend its first 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Right now, it doesn’t appear Swift is facing any serious competition for the throne, and at this point, we not sure how much longer the studio effort will reign.
