Horrifying footage of a man who lured two police officers to their deaths with a false emergency call

Chilling bodycam footage shows a man angrily confronting police who lured and killed two officers in a deadly ambush later that night.

In October 2022, Lt. Dustin DeMonte and Sgt. Alex Hamzy were tragically killed in the line of duty in Connecticut after what was later determined to be a false emergency call.

On the evening in question, Nathan Brutcher got into an altercation with a man in a bar that eventually escalated into the bar’s parking lot.

The police were called to intervene and eventually issued a ticket against Nathan and his brother Nicholas for disturbing the peace.

They were also denied a ride home because Nicholas was too drunk and Nathan’s driver’s license had expired.

During the ordeal, Nicholas got into an argument with the police officers who arrived at the scene and verbally abused them.

He made comments like, “I could outrun that motherfucker.”

Nicholas is also said to have tried several times to get into an argument with one of the officers.

During his argument with the officers, Nathan tried to calm his brother down and even suggested that the police handcuff him.

An hour after returning home, Nicholas called 911 because he was worried about his brother, and dispatch sent three officers.

But they didn’t know they were being lured to their deaths. When they reached the property, Nicholas – who was hiding in the bushes – opened fire on DeMonte, Hamzy and Officer Alec Iurato.

Hamzy and DeMonte were fatally shot, while Iurato was shot in the leg.

It was Iurato who returned fire and killed Nicholas.

A report from the Office of the Inspector General released Wednesday (June 26) concludes that Nicholas’ rampage was likely triggered by the confrontation with police earlier on the night in question.

The report states: “It must be emphasized that Nicholas Brutcher is the murderer in this case. It would be wrong to blame the traffic police or other people in Nicholas Brutcher’s life for the attack.”

Recently released dashcam footage shows the police vehicle heading toward Nicholas’ house and him hiding in the bushes.

Additional video footage shows the interaction between Nicholas and the officers who stopped him and his brother.

Nicholas makes fun of the height of one of the officers he speaks to, insisting that he earns “a hell of a lot more” than the rest of the police force.

“Are people proud of you?” the officer asks.

Nicholas replies: “My parents definitely are.”

Later, as he shot another police officer, Nicholas reportedly shouted, “How proud are you of me? How proud?”

It is unclear whether he was referring to the earlier conversation with these comments.
