Asian woman attacked by baseball bat-wielding assailants in NYC

A 58-year-old Asian woman checking her phone was brutally attacked by two masked individuals with a baseball bat in their hands in front of 37 Monroe St. in Downtown Manhattan shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Surveillance footage shows the attackers approaching her from behind, with one suspect hitting her on the head and the other repeatedly hitting her with a baseball bat while attempting to steal her purse. The victim, who works at a senior day care center, was hospital with bruises on her left leg and swelling on her head, but is now recovering at her daughter’s house. Police are still searching for the suspects, who fled empty-handed.
