1 person shot early Saturday morning in Tuscaloosa County

Early Saturday morning, local police officers are on the scene of a fatal shooting in Tuscaloosa County.

Captain Marty Sellers, co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, informed the media about the shooting around 4 a.m. Saturday.

Sellers said the sheriff’s office and VCU were at the scene of a shooting in the 2000 block of Stardust Drive in Hillcrest on Saturday.

One person is dead, Sellers said. According to Tuscaloosa Thread County officials, this is the 17th homicide investigation VCU has opened in 2024 – far, far more than the normal number of homicides in a year.
