1 hospitalized, 1 arrested after stabbing in Almena Twp.

ALMENA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – One man is in the hospital and another is in jail following a stabbing Friday night in Almena Township.

At approximately 9:10 p.m., Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office officers were dispatched to the area of ​​M-43 near 29th Street for a stabbing.


Officers learned that two men who lived in the house had been arguing over food and work and one of them had been stabbed. Both men were under the influence of alcohol at the time.

The victim, a 21-year-old, was taken to the hospital with an apparent stab wound to the chest. The sheriff’s office said he was last listed in stable but serious condition.

The suspect, a 22-year-old from Guatemala, was arrested and is being held in the Van Buren County Jail on charges of assault with intent to murder.

The stabbing remains under investigation.
