Man arrested after incident on Lloyd Avenue | Local news

Police spotted the man, 35-year-old Jeffrey Robe Tierney Jr. of Old Hill Road, Jeannette – riding his motorcycle through a nearby gas station on Lloyd Avenue.

The suspect told police he was at Dunkin’ “when a man and woman approached him and said he was watching their children from the street.” At that point, Tierney told investigators, he left the restaurant and drove toward downtown before encountering police at the gas station.

According to the indictment, police then “received a second call from one of the employees” at Dunkin’. The employee told police she was on her way to work around 2:30 p.m. when Tierney approached her and said, “Hey, you know you want this.”

The employee told the defendant to “leave her alone.” Tierney then reportedly tried to grab the employee’s arm, but she “was able to pull her arm away,” according to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case.

Later, while the employee was working around 4:30 p.m., she noticed Tierney sitting outside Dunkin’ and allegedly “watching the young children across the street.” According to court documents, the employee sent a message to the children’s parents warning them about Tierney, and the parents later confronted the defendant.

The employee told police she “then walked across the street and stood on the sidewalk in front of the children to prevent Tierney from harming the children.” After the argument with the children’s parents, Tierney rode away on his bicycle and then reportedly threatened to kill the employee.

“I know you told them,” the defendant allegedly told the employee. “I’m going to fucking kill you.”

Tierney was later found along State Route 981 in Unity Township and taken into custody. Investigators said Tierney was found with a “clear plastic bag containing a small amount of marijuana.” He told police he did not have a medical marijuana card.

Tierney was arraigned on Wednesday, June 26, at 8 p.m. before Magistrate Court Judge Jason Buczak.

Tierney is charged with terroristic threatening, a first-degree misdemeanor, as well as possession of marijuana and misdemeanor harassment.

Tierney is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing before Magistrate Court Judge Tamara J. Mahady on July 8 at noon.
