A 63-year-old man has been charged with weapons offenses after allegedly aiming an alleged air gun at police officers.

West Midlands Police said there were also reports on Thursday that passers-by were threatened with a gun at the same location (Bridsland Road, Birmingham) before shots were apparently fired into the street.

The accused was arrested at the scene, no one was injured and no damage was caused, police said.

The man has been charged with possession of an air weapon with intent to cause fear of violence, three counts of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and possession of an offensive weapon. He is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court.
