Former CEO of Chittoor ZP suspended days before his retirement

Tirupati: P Prabhakar Reddy, the former CEO of Chittoor Zilla Parishad, has been suspended close to his retirement, Panchayat Raj Department Commissioner Kannababu ordered late on Thursday. Critics, particularly TDP leaders, have alleged that Prabhakar Reddy held several high-level positions simultaneously despite not having the requisite qualifications due to alleged political support from minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy during the YSRCP tenure. They accuse him of financial malpractices involving substantial amounts of money, including interest from BRGF and Finance Commission allocations, which may run into hundreds of crores. The TDP’s claims also include allegations of unfair treatment of its contractors, which led to delays and litigation.

Following complaints from officials and TDP leaders to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and others, an inquiry was initiated and Prabhakar Reddy was instructed not to leave the headquarters during the inquiry. Critics argue that the delay in action against Reddy was due to political protection measures under the previous government and his suspension came only after the TDP returned to power.
