Man arrested in Pierre after being at large since 2021 manslaughter

PIERRE, SD (KELO) – A man was arrested in Pierre on Friday after he went on the run and was wanted for the 2021 manslaughter of a young woman.

According to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Kayden Chalmers has been wanted since the woman’s death in Pennington County.

Citizens have reported that he lives on the Cheyenne River Reservation.

The Dakota Territory Fugitive Task Force received a tip that Chalmers was at a specific address in Pierre. The Pierre Office of the U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Pierre Police Department entered the residence and were able to arrest Chalmers without incident.
