Occasionally, certain films are delayed in cinemas in the UAE or are banned from being shown in the country.

This can often be because the content of the film may “violate the country’s media content standards.”

A new federal law was recently enacted, making the National Media Office responsible for developing the country’s media sector at the national level. It also works to strengthen the UAE’s status as a major media hub at the regional and international levels.

Films and other media content must be released according to certain guidelines and rules in order to be shown in the UAE.
