Teen cyclist accident, identity theft and power outage are among recent police operations in KB | Key Biscayne

Here is a summary of Key Biscayne Police incidents and actions from April 29th to May 5th.

April 29, 2024

Units responded to the 200 block of Galen Drive for a disturbance between a father and his son. Officers spoke to both the father and son. Officers learned that the father and son had various verbal arguments throughout the weekend. There was no sign of physical evidence. The son left the apartment.

KBPD officers were dispatched to a residential alarm in the 200 block of Harbor Drive. Officers checked the apartment and everything appeared to be safe.

The complainant in the 300 block of Pacific Road contacted police about being a victim of identity theft. Officers documented their concerns and issued a case card.

Officers were dispatched to a residential alarm in the 900 block of Crandon Boulevard. Officers contacted the new tenant, who had not yet changed the system. Everything seemed safe.

The complainant in the 400 block of Crandon Boulevard contacted police about a set of keys found. The keys were kept as evidence.

Units responded to the 600 block of Harbor Drive for a crash. Officers contacted those involved and conducted a traffic accident investigation.

The complainant in the 700 block of Fernwood Road contacted police about a lack of power. He told officers there were five houses. He further stated that his neighbor was running a generator and the noise was bothering him. Officials confirmed the power outage with FPL. They said they would send a crew in the morning.


April 30, 2024

Units responded to the 500 block of Galen Drive for two suspicious persons. Officers located the people who matched the descriptions. Officers discovered the man and woman were involved in a verbal argument. There was no physical damage or signs of it.

The complainant in the 600 block of Ocean Drive contacted police about the theft of a Cannondale bicycle. Officers documented the incident and investigators will investigate it.

Police responded to the 300 block of Crandon Boulevard for a report of a man causing a disturbance in the parking lot. Officers contacted the man inside the bank. Officers documented the incident in a report and issued a case card.

KBPD officers responded to the 200 block of Crandon Boulevard for a crash. Officers contacted those involved and conducted a traffic accident investigation.

Units responded to the 200 block of Crandon Boulevard for a traffic collision involving a juvenile bicyclist. The teen was on the sidewalk on Crandon Blvd. heading south. A vehicle left the public library. As the vehicle left the library and crossed the sidewalk to enter the roadway, the driver failed to yield the right of way to the bicyclist who caused the accident. KBFD responded and transported the juvenile to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle was issued a citation.


May 1, 2024

Officers responded to the 100 block of Ocean Lane Drive for a barking dog complaint. Officers discovered the dog’s original owner had died. A family member is now looking after the dog. However, there was no answer at the door. The officers prepared a police report.

KBPD units issued a parking citation at the 70 block of Ocean Lane Drive for parking in a no parking zone.

Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Crandon Boulevard for a hit-and-run accident. Officers contacted the person involved and conducted a hit-and-run investigation.

Units conducted a traffic stop on the 200 block of Crandon Boulevard for failure to yield to the school bus while dropping off children. Officers contacted the driver and issued a citation.


May 2, 2024

KBPD officers were dispatched to 7 Turtle Walk for a loud party. Officers observed loud music. Contact was made to the homeowner and a written warning was issued.

Units responded to the 300 block of Glenridge Road for a suspicious male call. Officers spoke to the complainant, who provided a description of the man. The complainant stated that the man appeared to be homeless. Officers searched the area with negative results.

Police conducted a traffic stop on the 6000 block of Crandon Boulevard for an expired sign. Officers contacted the driver and conducted a records check. During the check, a revocation of the driver’s license and an order to ensure a marking were found. Two citations were issued and the tag was confiscated.

Officers contacted a man in the Winn-Dixie shopping area, around the 600 block of Crandon Boulevard. The man stated that they were homeless. Officers managed to secure services for the man.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on the 200 block of Crandon Boulevard for an illegal U-turn. Officers contacted the driver and issued a citation.

The complainant in the 80 block of West McIntyre Street contacted police because her club had entered her unit without her permission. The complainant requested a police report and received a case card.

Units responded to the 10 block of Village Green Way for a minor traffic collision. Officers contacted those involved and conducted a traffic accident investigation.

Units on the 200 block of Crandon Boulevard conducted a traffic stop. Officers contacted the driver and issued a citation for driving with a revoked license.

May 3, 2024

Units responded to a residential alarm in the 600 block of North Mashta Drive. The house was checked and everything appeared to be safe.

KBPD officers conducted a traffic stop on the 700 block of Glenridge Road. Officers contacted the operator and conducted a file check. The check revealed that he had a suspended driving license without knowing it. A summons was issued.

Police on the 50 block of Ocean Lane Drive conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation. Officers contacted the driver and issued a citation.

Units responded to the 600 block of Ridgewood Road for a minor traffic collision. Officers contacted those involved and conducted a traffic accident investigation.

KBPD officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Crandon Boulevard in reference to a suspicious male. Officers contacted an employee at the restaurant. The employee felt uncomfortable with the man. Officers contacted the man outside the restaurant and gave him a trespassing warning.

KBPD assisted Miami Dade Schools Police with a threat against students in the 100 block of West McIntyre Street.

Units responded to the 700 block of Crandon Boulevard regarding an 8-year-old alone in the store. Officers contacted the child and mother. The mother told her that the child was with her sister and that both of them could walk to the community center. They went to CVS without their mother’s permission.

The complainant on the 100 block of Ocean Lane Drive contacted police about damage to his kayak. The officers documented the incident in a report.

A juvenile in the 80 block of West McIntyre Street contacted police because she was afraid to go home because her father would not approve of a friendship with a man. Officers contacted the father and spoke with both parties. After the conversation, father and daughter left the police station.

Officers in the 80 block of West McIntyre Street conducted a traffic stop for a stop sign violation. Officers contacted the driver and issued a report.

KBPD units on the 30 block of Crandon Boulevard conducted a traffic stop for speeding. Officers contacted the driver and issued a citation.

A case number was drawn in the 80 block of West McIntyre Street to document damage to a police vehicle.


May 4, 2024

Units responded to the 400 block of Glenridge Road to a loud party complaint. When officers arrived, they heard music. The homeowner was contacted and a written warning was issued.

While on patrol, officers issued a parking citation on the 100 block of Ocean Lane Drive for parking in a no parking zone.

During the maritime patrol, officers warned three different jet skiers to stay away from boats in the Nixon Beach area.

KBPD officers responded to the 500 block of Allendale Road for a loud party. Officers contacted the resident who was having a party for his 60th birthday. The owner was informed of the ordinance and turned off the music.

Units responded to the 400 block of Ridgewood Road for a loud party. The officers contacted the resident, made him aware of the noise regulations and switched off the music.


May 5, 2024

Officers responded to the 300 block of Ridgewood Road for a loud music complaint. When officers arrived, they heard music. The homeowner was contacted and a written warning was issued.

While on patrol, officers issued a parking citation on the 400 block of Fernwood Road.

While on patrol, officers issued a citation to the 50 block of Harbor Drive for a vehicle parked in a handicapped spot.

Officers on the 6000 block of Crandon Boulevard conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation. Officers contacted the driver and conducted a file check. During the check it was discovered that the driver’s license had been revoked without knowledge. Officers issued a citation.

The complainant in the 200 block of Galen Drive contacted police and advised that he had last seen his golf cart today. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the golf cart. A case card was issued.

A parent in the 100 block of Crandon Boulevard contacted police to help release his son to the other parent. The police were on hand and the child was handed over to the other parent without any problems.
