Pedestrian killed by car on Highway 301 South

An unidentified man was struck and killed by a car on Highway 301 South near Buddy’s Truck Stop around 9 p.m. Friday night.

Georgia State Trooper Robbie Scott said the pedestrian was crossing the highway from the Mi San Pedro store, which is about a mile north of the intersection with Highway 46, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling south on 301.

He said the man was chatting with a group when he tried to cross the street. He did not have a flashlight or anything else to illuminate himself when he was hit, Scott said.

Bulloch County Sheriff’s and EMS officials, along with Georgia State Patrol troopers, arrived at the scene.

Scott said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

While rescue workers were working on site, traffic was disrupted for about an hour.

No further information about the victim or the vehicle that struck him was available at the scene of the accident.
