Tragic accident claims life of pedestrian on Highway 301 South

A man tragically lost his life Friday night when he was struck by a car while attempting to cross US Highway 301 South outside of Statesboro, GA in Bulloch County. The incident occurred around 9:14 p.m. near Buddy’s Truck Stop, 8741 South US Highway 301.

Bulloch County 911 quickly dispatched multiple emergency responders to the scene, including Bulloch County Sheriff’s deputies, Georgia State Patrol (GSP) troopers, Bulloch County EMS, and the Bulloch County Fire Department. According to Sergeant Robbie Scott of GSP Post 45, the man was crossing the highway when the unfortunate collision occurred.

Bystanders and emergency responders on the scene immediately rendered medical aid to the injured man while waiting for emergency services to arrive. Despite their efforts, the man was later taken to East Georgia Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities are currently working to identify the deceased Hispanic man, believed to be in his late 20s. The Georgia State Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances of this fatal accident.
