Charleston County officials halt search for suspect in Ladson area

UPDATE: The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office called off the search for a suspect Friday afternoon. “We do not believe there is a threat to the community,” the department said. The victim is not pressing charges and officials say this is an isolated incident.

The sheriff’s office said anyone who sees anything suspicious in the area should call the CCSO at 843-202-1700.


CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCBD) – Charleston County officials are searching for a suspect after responding to a 911 call about “shots fired” in Ladson.

Officers rushed to a location at Von Oshen Road and Highway 78 around 12 p.m. where shots had been fired. When they arrived, a suspect ran into a wooded area.

Sheriff’s office officials said no one was injured in the shooting.

Officers are currently actively searching for the suspect and are asking the public to avoid the area.

“Those living near Von Oshen and Highway 78 are also asked to remain in their homes,” the agency said. “This individual is considered armed and dangerous.”
