Landmark Admin, LLC reports data protection incident

BROWNWOOD, Texas, June 26, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Landmark Admin, LLC (“Landmark”) is providing notice of a recent data security incident. Landmark is a third-party administrator for life insurance carriers and may have received certain personal information from manufacturers, insureds, policyholders, or policyholders for insurance policies administered by Landmark.

What happened?

On or about May 13, 2024, Landmark discovered suspicious activity on its system and later learned that an unauthorized third party had accessed its network. Upon discovery of this incident, Landmark immediately disconnected the affected systems and remote access to the network and promptly engaged a specialized third-party cybersecurity firm and IT personnel to assist in securing the environment and conducting a comprehensive forensic investigation to determine the nature and scope of the incident. While the forensic investigation is ongoing, Landmark found evidence that some of its files may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party.

Based on these findings, Landmark began reviewing the affected systems to identify the specific individuals and types of information that may have been compromised.

What information was affected?

The following information may have been accessed without authorization: first name/initial name and last name, address, social security number, tax identification number, driver’s license number/identity card, passport number, bank account number, medical information, date of birth, health insurance number, and life and pension policy information.

The information varies from person to person. Affected persons will be informed of the affected information by email.

What remedial measures have been taken?

Landmark takes the privacy and security of personal information very seriously. Since the discovery, Landmark has responded quickly to investigate and secure its systems. Landmark has taken steps to further enhance its network security and has taken and will continue to take steps to reduce the risk of future harm.

What steps can individuals take?

Landmark encourages everyone to stay alert and avoid identity theft by reviewing their bank statements and monitoring their credit reports for suspicious activity. Individuals can obtain free copies of their credit reports by visiting the following website: www.annualcreditreport.com or toll-free at 1-877-322-8228.
