Homeless shelter employee can speak again after machete attack – WGAU

ATHENS – An employee at a homeless shelter in Athens who was attacked by a man with a machete is gradually able to speak again.

Chris Sullens, 53, was at work earlier this month when Cedric Smith began beating him with a machete.

Sullen’s sister says he lost his eye and suffered a fractured skull in the attack. He is still being treated at Grady Memorial Hospital.

After the attack, Sullens was on a ventilator and suffered from brain swelling. He was able to stand up for the first time on Friday.
