Teenager killed in Kansas City, Kansas shooting identified

KANSAS CITY, Kansas – Kansas City, Kansas police have determined the identity of the 16-year-old boy killed in a shooting earlier this week.

The The shooting occurred in front of a house near South 48th Street and Steele Road in Kansas City, Kansas.


When police arrived at the scene, they found a victim outside with gunshot wounds who died at the scene. KCKPD identified him Friday as 16-year-old Michael Welch of KCK.

Two other adults were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries. According to police, the injuries were not caused by gunfire. Their condition is serious – and both are expected to recover.
