Man charged in 2023 car crash that killed Griswold man – NBC Connecticut

State police have arrested a Rhode Island man on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a head-on collision in Griswold last year that left a 73-year-old man dead.

Cody Moorehead, 30, of Hope Valley, Rhode Island, was charged in connection with a crash on Route 138 in Griswold on June 26, 2023, that left 73-year-old Zenon Zawadzki of Griswold dead.

Moorehead was charged with second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle without a license, failure to observe proper driving manner and failure to maintain proper lane.

According to the arrest warrant, his driver’s license was suspended in Connecticut and Rhode Island and his urine samples contained cannabinoids, fentanyl, norfentanyl and xylazine, a sedative, analgesic and muscle relaxant approved for veterinary use.

Moorehead’s bail was set at $500,000.
