Tourist from Texas dies in snorkeling incident in Key West

A 65-year-old Houston man died Tuesday after a snorkeling accident off Key West.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said Beau Follis was snorkeling with Fury Watersports when he reportedly lost consciousness. Follis was immediately resuscitated and the U.S. Coast Guard brought him to shore for rescue.

Tragically, Follis was pronounced dead when he arrived at the hospital at 8:16 p.m.

The MCSO believes no crime was involved in the incident. Autopsy results are pending.

In May, a Canadian tourist died after a freediving accident in Key West.
