Police investigate after shooting Thursday at a store in Youngstown, Ohio’s West Side

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Witnesses reportedly told police Thursday night that a disgruntled employee fired several shots into the air in the parking lot of a West Side business.

Police were called to 215 Sinter Court around 8:45 p.m. for an altercation involving gunfire. A witness reportedly told police that an employee who had been accused of previously misbehaving at work had become upset and left the building.

When he returned, the employee appeared to be drunk and threatened to kill three supervisors and shoot in the store, another witness told police.

The employee then fired several shots into the air from a semi-automatic pistol before driving away toward Division Street. Police reportedly found three 9mm shell casings in the parking lot.

Police reviewed surveillance videos and saw the employee’s car in the area where the shell casings were found.

Supervisors reportedly told police they were never threatened by the employee, but others told them the employee had threatened them.
