Paterson child found safe and sound, suspect arrested after Amber Alert

A kidnapped 2-year-old Paterson child was found safe and sound Friday and a suspect was taken into police custody, Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh said.

An Amber Alert was issued after Zander Abad was abducted overnight in the area of ​​Piercy and Holsman Streets.

Witnesses at the scene told police that the kidnapper was the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s mother.

Witnesses said the kidnapper was armed with a gun and attacked the woman before taking her son away.

The suspect was identified by authorities as 33-year-old Junior Nunez. He and Abad were in the area of ​​Presidential Boulevard and Temple Street around 6 a.m.

Authorities said both were in good health and Nunez was arrested without incident.
