Miami man arrested for beating 13-year-old in grocery store – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) – A Miami man was arrested on aggravated child abuse charges after allegedly slapping a 13-year-old boy at a BJ’s Wholesale Club.

Police said officers were called to BJ’s at 16200 SW 88th Street after receiving a report of assault on a minor around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to the police report, when officers arrived, they spoke with the victim’s mother, who reported that her son had been beaten by 36-year-old Michael Toro.

According to the police report, a store manager provided video footage of the incident.

The footage allegedly showed the 13-year-old boy running to the Toros self-checkout, grabbing a receipt, taking a photo and then running toward the exit.

Toro was then observed approaching the boy, grabbing him by his shirt and slapping him, causing the boy to suffer minor cuts to his lower lip, the police report states.

Toro was arrested and taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Toro is accused of aggravated child abuse with serious bodily harm.
