Adam Winkler Leaves ABC13 Houston

Adam Winkler is leaving abc13 Houston KTRK on June 28, 2024, where he was a sports and news anchor/reporter, where he has worked since July 12, 2021.

Here is part of Winkler’s farewell message on Facebook:

“The opportunity to report and profile the news leader in my hometown not only fulfilled a professional goal of mine, but it was also a dream come true. I hope you made me proud along the way. I also hope that you know how valuable your support and commitment have been to me throughout this journey.

Even though I’m leaving ABC13, we’re not leaving Houston. Space City is our home. I hope you’ll stay in touch and continue to follow us, even if the updates to this page aren’t as frequent. (I promise to post a Tyke Tuesday or Baby Wink Wednesday every now and then, though!)

Not only did Winkler cover scores and highlights as the weekend sports anchor, he was also a regular on the 3 p.m. newscast as the news anchor.

Channel 13 was a homecoming for Winkler, who grew up in Spring, Texas and graduated from Klein High School.

Before returning to Texas, he was the sports director for WTKR 3 in Norfolk, Virginia.

Readers of the Central Texans blog will recognize Winkler from his many years first with KWTX 10 Waco/Temple/Killeen, followed by CBS Austin KEYE. He was the weekend sports anchor for both stations.

The Southwestern University graduate, who played baseball for the Pirates, began his journey in television news as a weekend sports anchor/reporter for KNOE 8 News Monroe, LA.

According to his bio, Winkler has won two Lone Star EMMY Awards and 10 nominations. He has also won 21 Associated Press Broadcasters awards in Virginia, Texas and Louisiana.
