Police: Lincoln man fires bullet into neighbor’s house after dropping gun

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KLKN) – A Lincoln man received a ticket Wednesday after accidentally firing a gun into his neighbor’s home, police said.

Around 6:30 p.m., a man heard a “loud noise” in a home near Southwest 29th Street and West Sumner Street, police said.

He then discovered a hole in his kitchen wall and a kitchen cabinet as well as a bullet, police said.

An officer spoke to the 34-year-old neighbor, who said he dropped his .45 caliber pistol, causing a shot to be fired.

Police estimated the damage caused by the bullet to be $200.

The man was charged with suspicion of illegal use of firearms. No one was injured.
