(FOX40.COM) — The suspected killer of a Roseville, Southern California alley murder has been arrested 40 years later, according to Roseville police.

In 1984, 69-year-old Medline Garcia was in the 300 block of Atlantic Street in downtown Roseville when she was attacked, dragged into an alley and killed.

After all leads had been exhausted and all investigating officers and detectives had retired, the investigation into Garcia’s death came to a standstill.

Investigators from the Placer County District Attorney’s Office became involved in the case because advances in forensic technology have produced promising results on evidence that is now decades old.

The results of the forensic laboratory examination of the evidence showed that the suspect in the Garcia murder case was Richard Moore of Los Angeles.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department assisted in arresting Moore and taking him into custody, where he faces a charge of first-degree murder.

According to Roseville police, Moore will be extradited to Placer County for further charges at a later date.
