PLACER COUNTY, CA (June 28, 2024) – A man died in a bicycle accident on Highway 174 near Hill Drive.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal bicycle accident occurred on Thursday at around 1:52 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, a pickup truck driver struck a man who was either riding a bicycle or standing with his bicycle in the street. Shortly afterward, emergency responders arrived at the scene and took him to a hospital, where he died. Officials did not release his name, describing him only as a man in his mid-30s.

Authorities investigated the incident and confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol were involved. They said the cyclist was wearing dark clothing and did not have reflectors on his bike at the time of the accident.
