2 men arrested for sexually abusing minors | Mumbai News

In two separate cases, police arrested two men for allegedly sexually abusing a five-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy in the Bandra and Malad areas.

In both the cases, the accused were charged with sexual abuse of minors under the stringent provisions of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

In the first case, police said, a 31-year-old man abused a five-year-old girl while her mother and stepfather were at work.

“When the girl’s parents went to work, the accused dragged the girl to his room and sexually abused her. He also allegedly threatened her not to tell anyone about it,” said a source at Kherwadi police station.

When the mother returned home after work, the girl complained of pain in her private parts and told her about her ordeal. The mother then went to the Kherwadi police station on Thursday and lodged a complaint, after which the police nabbed the accused from the area.

In the second case, police arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy in Malad. According to police, the accused lives in the boy’s neighbourhood.

On June 1, the defendant took the boy to his room under false pretenses and sexually abused him. He also filmed the act and threatened to publish the images on social media if the boy told anyone about the incident, the indictment states.

As the boy was scared, he did not tell anyone about it for 25 days. On Wednesday, he told his parents about it and a case was filed against the accused, a police official said. Malwani police then arrested the accused from the area.
