From fireworks and parades to hot dog eating contests and cornhole tournaments, there are many ways to celebrate Independence Day in the Greater Houston area. This list is not exhaustive.

“Starry Salute”

Celebrate Independence Day with the “Star-Spangled Salute,” an annual free concert at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion featuring the Houston Symphony performing a selection of patriotic favorites under the direction of Jason Seber. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Fourth Houston Festival

Vintage Park’s inaugural event will feature 5K, 9K and 17.76K races as well as a 1.775K run/walk for families and kids. The event will also feature a Beer Mile, hot dog eating contest and virtual road race options. Prices increase after June 30.

South County Fourth of July Parade

The 48th annual event will feature a 1.3-mile parade with marching bands, fire trucks, clowns and floats. The parade route will wind through downtown Woodlands and Market Street, beginning and ending at the Woodlands Methodist Church. Pre-flight activities and entertainment will begin at 8 a.m.

Independence Day Parade and Festival Celebration

The city of Bellaire will host a celebration with food, live music and two patriotic parades. The main parade will begin at South Rice Avenue and Valerie Street, while the children’s bike parade will begin at South Rice Avenue and Evergreen Street. Both parades will end at South Rice Avenue and Linden Street, and will be followed by a festival at Bellaire Town Square on the Great Lawn and at Loftin Park.

51st Kingwood 4th of July Parade

This annual event, hosted by the Kingwood Civic Club and the Kingwood Rotary Club, will feature a parade starting at Creekwood Middle School and ending at Kingwood High School. Prior to the parade, the Kingwood Civic Club will also host the Children’s Fishing Rodeo from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at Foster’s Mill Village Ponds and a Bike Rodeo at 9 a.m. in the Kingwood Bible Church parking lot.

Red, hot and pool

In honor of Independence Day, Woodlands Township will continue its festivities with a swim event where area pools will be adorned with patriotic decorations. Activities and refreshments will also be offered to participants.

4th of July Party at Home Run Dugout

Home Run Dugout will celebrate the 4th of July with slides, a cornhole tournament, a hot dog eating contest and live music from Sol Flair.
