Man arrested in connection with 7th murder of the year

TOPEKA (KSNT) – A man has been arrested in connection with the seventh murder of the year.

According to the Topeka Police Department (TPD), Dasanee D. Curry, 18, of Topeka was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. Curry was arrested on the following charges:

• First degree murder
• Attempted first degree murder
• Serious child endangerment
• Criminal firing of a firearm in an occupied dwelling
• Criminal damage to property

Last Friday, Topeka police found a man and woman with gunshot wounds in the 3100 block of Southwest Westover Road in west Topeka. The man, identified as Brian M. Wright, later died. The woman’s injuries are considered life-threatening. This is the 7th homicide investigation of the year.
