Two people were taken to hospital after a crash involving three vehicles and a police team caused by a drunk driver in Buffalo Grove.

The incident happened around 2:15 p.m. Sunday at Lake Cook Road and Arlington Heights Road in Buffalo Grove.

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department was dispatched and arrived on scene to find a three-vehicle collision with minor damage south of the intersection in the northbound lanes.

One of the vehicles was a Buffalo Grove police car. Two ambulances were called to the scene.

Molly Gillespie, Buffalo Grove’s director of communications and engagement, said the officer was stopped at a red light as they were rear-ended.

Buffalo Grove Deputy Police Chief Brian Spolar said two people were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The driver who caused the accident and the driver of the other vehicle involved were transported.

Their injuries were minor and not life-threatening, Spolar said. The officer involved was not injured.

The driver who caused the crash was eventually arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a revoked license, Gillespie said.
