Central Florida officials arrest 24-year-old man for sexually abusing a girl under 12

After nearly a month-long investigation, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl.

On June 4, the victim stated that the suspect, Giancarlo Gonzalez-Nieves, sexually abused her for nearly four years.

The victim told investigators that the abuse began when she was about 8 years old and continued until she was about 12 years old.

Investigators from the OCSO’s Special Victims Unit received several confessions from 24-year-old Gonzalez-Nieves that confirmed the victim’s allegations of abuse.

A warrant was obtained for Gonzalez-Nieves, and on June 27, he was arrested and charged with sexual assault (suspect over 18 and victim under 12), a capital offense in the state of Florida.

During a press conference, Sheriff Marcos Lopez said the suspect was a friend of the victim’s family and asked the public if there were any other victims or witnesses with information about Gonzalez-Nieves and to call the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at (407) 348-2222.
