Church Langley doctor suspended for 12 months after working ‘under the influence of drugs’

A Harlow doctor who was under the influence of drugs while treating patients has been suspended, the BBC reports.

Nathan Sandles, who worked as a GP at Church Langley Medical Centre in Harlow, appeared “drowsy, sleepy and disorientated” during his shift.

He prescribed himself medication using a patient’s false name, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal heard.

Despite expressing “remorse and shame” in his testimony before the panel, Dr Sandles was suspended for 12 months.

The tribunal took place from 3 to 10 June 2024.
