Daniel B. Anderson, 25, was sentenced by a Montgomery County judge to 15 years to life in prison.

Earlier this month, Anderson was found guilty of five counts of murder and four counts of aggravated assault.

As News Center 7 reported in July 2022, shortly before midnight, officers and paramedics were called to Ridge Avenue near Triangle Park because a person was lying on the ground and blood was pouring near him.

Police were dispatched because it was believed the man may have been hit by a car in an accident.

When they arrived at the scene, they discovered that it was not a car accident, but a murder.

According to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, 59-year-old Daniel Thomas of New Lebanon was identified as the man killed.

An initial police investigation found that Thomas suffered “very serious injuries to his head and body” after being attacked with the machete and later run over by a car, Johns said.

According to police, Anderson and Thomas knew each other and the attack was the result of an escalating argument.

Anderson was arrested at the scene.
