13-year-old in custody for shooting in La Crosse | Crime and Courts

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – La Crosse police said a 13-year-old was safely taken into custody in connection with a shooting incident that occurred earlier this week.

According to police, the teenager is charged with two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment and possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18 years of age.

The charges stem from an incident on June 24 in the 500 block of Hood Street. Police were called there around 11:17 p.m.

Officers found shell casings in the area of ​​5th and Adams Streets to 6th and Hood Streets.

No injuries were reported.

The department said the investigation into the incident is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Lieutenant Cory Brandl.

The department also continues to seek information regarding a previous complaint of gunfire that occurred around 1:10 a.m. on Friday, June 21 in the 100 block of 3rd Street North.

According to a department press release, initial investigations revealed that an altercation led to a shooting.

No injuries were reported, but one vehicle was hit.
