Former Denver resident and professional wrestler Charles Bernard Scaggs, also known as 2 Cold Scorpio, was arrested after allegedly stabbing a customer during a fight at a Missouri gas station where he worked as a security guard.

Scaggs, 58, was arrested on suspicion of assault on June 15 after an altercation with a customer at Love’s Travel Stop in Kansas City, Missouri, according to a statement from the Clay County District Attorney’s Office.

Kansas City police officers responded to the gas station in the northeast of the city around 3:40 p.m. and found a bleeding man lying on the ground in front of the gas station, in and out of consciousness, while a witness applied pressure to a wound on his head, according to the report.

The man was taken to hospital, where doctors later discovered cuts to his head and chest, as well as two stab wounds to his abdomen and lower back.

According to the report, the man told police he used the gas station’s ATM and as he was leaving, Scaggs approached him, made comments about him smoking in the gas station, and got in his face. The man pushed Scaggs away and Scaggs attacked him.

But Scaggs told police that the man was smoking inside the gas station when the gas station told him he was not allowed to smoke inside and at some point put a hand on his back to guide him outside.

The man was aggressive and threatened to kill and injure Scaggs, Scaggs told police. He got in his face and ordered him to step back before he began to “wrestle” with Scaggs.

Scaggs told investigators that at one point the man’s legs were wrapped around his head, neck and arms and that he stabbed and punched him to escape.

Scaggs is charged with first-degree assault and was released from jail on $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 11, according to court records.
