Irwin man accused of raping teen told police he had ‘conscious blackouts’

An Irwin man is behind bars without bail in connection with the reported sexual assault of a young girl.

Jason Cush, 43, is charged with rape and related offenses. Court documents say the girl told Cush he had sexually abused her for about two years. She gave authorities her iPad, which police said showed communications between the two.

According to court documents, two videos were discovered on the device showing Cush raping the girl.

During police interviews, Cush claimed he had “conscious blackouts” and could not remember sexually assaulting her. He was held in the Westmoreland County Jail and did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 16.
