Dublin community prays together after two relatives died and three others were injured in a car crash

DUBLIN, Va. (WDBJ) – On Thursday evening, people gathered at Calvary Chapel in Dublin to pray and support the Akers family.

According to Virginia State Police, the rear of their car was struck by a box truck as they were returning home from vacation in Prince William County.

27-year-old Krystal Akers and her 11-year-old daughter Angel have died.

Krystal’s parents were also injured and Krystal’s son had to undergo surgery for brain trauma.

Akers’ friends and family say they never thought they would have to go through this experience.

They are grateful that baby Karter survived.

The occupants of the truck that hit the Akers family are facing charges.
