Due to a fatal accident between a motorcycle and a truck, a section of Route 28 in Fairfax County, Virginia, near Dulles International Airport, had to be closed.

It happened just before 2 p.m. Thursday on Route 28 northbound and McLearen Road between Herndon and Chantilly. The man on the motorcycle died at the scene, while the driver of the truck was still there, a Fairfax County police spokesman said.

While police investigated the crash, Route 28 northbound between Route 50 and McLearen Road was closed for approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes.

The WTOP Traffic Center reported that southbound drivers across from the accident site were initially only able to use the right lane, causing a traffic jam of up to five miles long.
