Police say local and federal authorities are investigating after a bomb threat was made to a bank in downtown Libertyville Wednesday morning.

Libertyville police responded to the BMO Harris Bank, 354 North Milwaukee Avenue, around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Sergeant Dusan Racic of the Libertyville Police Department said there was a bomb threat made to the bank by telephone.

Employees evacuated the bank before police arrived.

The bomb threat was ultimately deemed implausible, said Racic.

After police cleared the building, BMO Harris Bank was finally able to resume normal operations.

Racic said the investigation would continue with the assistance of federal authorities.

Police have not released any further information about the case, including whether suspects have been identified.
