Boy dies after police respond to report of drowning in pool of Miami-Dade home

MIAMI DADE COUNTY, Florida. – A 5-year-old boy died Friday night after firefighters and police officers arrived in the Richmond West neighborhood of Miami-Dade County.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel airlifted the boy by helicopter after being called to a home with a pool on Southwest 168 Terrace, near 149 Avenue.

The boy was pronounced dead at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, according to Detective Angel Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department.

“Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead,” Rodriguez wrote in a statement.

According to Rodriguez, homicide detectives were investigating the boy’s death.
