Houston Texans’ CJ Stroud leads Green Bay Packers’ Jordan Love in latest rankings

Ongoing controversy, Jordan Love is a bit overrated. The young Green Bay Packers player had a difficult start to the year in 2023, but finished in style, with 4,100 yards and 31 touchdowns. Solid numbers, but his tape tells a different story. He was inconsistent during the first half of the season, regularly completing less than 60% of his passes in most games. Still, Love improved as the competition got easier, facing more losing teams and teams making the playoffs.

It could be a natural progression. It could be that he just became a better quarterback. It could be that he had a breakout season. Something more akin to Daniel Jones or Case Keenum. If so, the Packers are in a very difficult situation. If not, they have found their third Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback in 30 years.

However, Love is, in my opinion, one of the most overrated players currently. So I’m not at all surprised to see CJ Stroud topping Love in a new list’s rankings. CBS released its Top 25 Players Under 25, and while Stroud was way too low (9th), he was higher than Love and San Francisco 49ers player Brock Purdy.

Stroud was the highest-rated quarterback. Considering he’s only 22 and this is only his second season, it’s very likely that Stroud will be at the top of this list in 2025. After all, Stroud had one of the most efficient rookie seasons of all time. He threw just four interceptions and led his team to an AFC South championship and a playoff victory.

His Pro Bowl selection is all the more anticipated. Stroud has one of the best offenses around him in 2024, and the hype is unreal. This upcoming roster may be the most anticipated in Texans history. This isn’t a knock on another season, either. It’s simply the potential of this team.

Love could end up being a very good quarterback, and we’re certainly not against him. We’re just very aware that Stroud was consistently a top-five quarterback in the AFC last season, week in and week out. The same can’t be said for Love in the NFC.
